Shamanism

Shamanism is probably the oldest known spiritual practice in the world.  Signs of the practice have been discovered across the globe with rock paintings, carved stones and petroglyphs all giving us glimpses into the life and works of a Shaman.

Shamanism is not an organised religion but more a spiritual practice and cuts across all faiths and creeds.

A Shaman is a man or woman who can enter alternative states of consciousness at will and travel in spirit between this world and other worlds to find knowledge, healing and guidance, always in the service of others.  Shamans work with their spiritual helpers and power animals when journeying for others.

Everything a Shaman does is done with intention and they are primarily interested in serving others.  Core Shamanism is a term meaning the synthesis of various shamanic techniques gathered from various Shamans across the world.

As soon as we practice Shamanism we inevitably put it in our cultural form.  Shamanic work helps increase our understanding of the elements (earth, fire, water and air) and brings a realisation that all things/beings are connected.

With the current revival of Shamanism we are beginning to recognise the spiritual and psychological value that our ancestors experienced and we are learning to respect this knowledge and understand its importance for our lives today.
